Quackin’ Up!

These too-cute Hershey’s Nugget candy holders just quack me up! They’re the brilliant creations of Pam (creativechoicedesigns) over at splitcoaststampers. Aren’t they just adorable?! (This duckie, of course, is my absolute favorite.) And they’re really quite easy to make too! Hello, Easter Bunny…

The basic directions are simple: cut cardstock to 1-1/2″ x 5″ then score at 2″ and 3″ and round off all corners with a corner punch. Decorate (see below). Fold into nugget shape. Punch 1/8″ hole at top center of carstock and tie with ribbon to keep shut.

Duck instructions: Punch a large oval and two small ovals from same yellow cardstock as holder. Cut several long, skinny slits in each, leaving just enough at one end so that the ovals do not fall apart. Glue the uncut end of the small ovals on the front (“inside”) for wings, and glue the uncut end of the large oval to the back for the tail. Punch a large oval from orange cardstock and score twice (about 1/4″ apart) to create beak. Draw two small dots on top of beak. Fold and glue into place. Punch two small ovals from orange cardstock and use scallop scissors (or hand-cut) to cut out a reverse image (scoops) and create two feet. Glue to bottom. Hand-draw or glue small circle shapes for eyes.

Bunny instructions: Cut strips of white and pink cardstock, then score down center. Punch out ovals so that score mark is centered on the length of the oval. Cut thru the score on the bottom of the ears so you can overlap bottom edge to give ears a 3D look. Cut off edges of pink ovals. Use one for nose. For feet, use 3/4″ circle, cut in half, and draw on paws. Use paper that you cut the circle out to create a mask to sponge in caramel around face. Cut thin strips of paper for nose. Draw on eyes and mouth.

You can create different cuties by simply altering ears and face. Here Pam shows a puppy (using oval punches) and siamese cat (hand-cut triangles).
